The new seven-episode drama series THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY, based on the international bestselling novels by Alexander McCall Smith, debuts SUNDAY, MARCH 29 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Filmed in Botswana, the series stars Grammy Award winner Jill Scott as heroine Precious Ramotswe, one of the most beloved characters in contemporary fiction.

 THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY is a presentation of HBO Entertainment in association with The Weinstein Company and BBC.

 With nine novels published to date, “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” book series chronicles the adventures of Precious Ramotswe, the eminently sensible and wise proprietor of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Aided by her highly-efficient yet rather peculiar secretary Mma Makutsi, Mma Ramotswe investigates cases, helps people solve problems in their lives, and begins a special friendship with the highly respectable owner of a garage.

 Also starring in THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY are Anika Noni Rose (“Dreamgirls”) as Precious’ quirky secretary Mma Makutsi and Lucian Msamati as Mma Ramotswe’s devoted suitor JLB Matekoni. Guest stars in the pilot include David Oyelowo (“The Last King of Scotland,” HBO’s “Five Days” and “As You Like It”), Idris Elba (“28 Weeks Later,” HBO’s “The Wire”), Colin Salmon (“Die Another Day,” “Match Point”) and Tony winner John Kani (“Final Solution,” “The Ghost and the Darkness”).

Directed by the late Anthony Minghella (Oscar® winner for “The English Patient”), the two-hour pilot for THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY, which debuted on the BBC in 2008, serves as the first episode of the HBO series. Executive producers of the pilot were the late Sydney Pollack (Oscar® winner for “Out of Africa”), Richard Curtis (Oscar® nominee for “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” Emmy® winner for HBO’s “The Girl in the Café”), Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein. Anthony Minghella, Timothy Bricknell and Amy J. Moore served as producers on the pilot.

The series is now under the supervision of Richard Curtis, who also wrote the screenplay for the pilot with Anthony Minghella. New episodes of THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY are written by Nicholas Wright and Robert Jones and directed by Charles Sturridge and Tim Fywell. The new episodes are once again produced by Timothy Bricknell and executive produced by Richard Curtis, Amy J. Moore, Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein.

"Half & Half" : Where Was I When This Show Was On ???

Essence Atkins and Rachel True star as half-sisters Mona and Dee Dee, who have only one thing in common: their father. Growing up separately, these two virtual strangers suddenly become neighbors in the same San Francisco apartment building, and experience the challenges of sisterhood for the first time.

Mona, a budding music executive, was raised by her single mother, Phyllis, to be an independent woman who does things in her own free-spirited and sometimes sardonic style. By contrast, younger sister Dee Dee is a privileged honor-roll college student who grew up in a two-parent home, but searches for her own identity out of the shadow of her overbearing mother, Big Dee Dee.

Now in their twenties, these two vastly contrasting women are discovering the advantages and joys that the special bond of sisterhood offers. But their relationship is not without its problems, as they often clash on everything from morals to money to men. Meanwhile, Spencer, Mona's best friend, becomes the conscience of the group and helps build a bridge between the women.

USA Today calls the show "warm hearted, entertaining, and amusing," while the Daily News says "there's a lot of talent in this show...the cream in Half & Half rises to the top."

Sherri Shepherd : Lifetime Pilot...Please NOOOO

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series which is loosely based on her own experiences is about a wife (Shepherd) who accepts her husband's infidelity and his illegitimate child and allows the child and the other woman to move in with them. That's rough!

It’s nice to see that Sherri has put all her troubles behind her and is able to turn her past personal troubles into a comedy for television. We all know what she went through was definitely not an easy thing for anyone to go through.  Source

I have no interest in this "sitcom." It is further bad press that we absolutely do not need. Ugh.

Real World Brooklyn : Devyn & Scott Part II

HHhhmmmmmmmmm....I must say that I wouldn't be intimidated by Baya with Scott if I were Devyn. This ladies, is where you engage your brain and let go of "emotion" to get what you want. While you NEVER chase after a man who doesn't see your value, you have to engage him first to let him know you're in the game. 

So it may be too early to tell if Devyn has "engaged" Scott on a mental level....we shall see.  If anyone wants to keep up with this storyline and evaluate it as a "case study" on interracial dating, hit me up.

What MTV and other MSM (main stream media) uses for mindless entertainment or playing to racial stereotypes, we can use to OUR benefit.  It's all in how you CHOOSE to look at it.

Has Devyn "Claimed" Her Man ? & What Exactly *Is* the "Type" of White or Non-Black Man Who Dates Black Women ?

Personally, I see mega-chemistry between Devyn and Scott. Some *folks* might try to brush it aside as a one-sided "crush" and we all know who the crusher is supposed to be..cause you know, Scott might not seem like the "type" to like Black girls. SMH. Perhaps *folks* have this in mind when they think of a White guy who dates a Black girl ??? I dunno.

*Folks* better buy a clue, cause it's about to get really REAL for them. LOL

NBC's Momma's Boys : Apology Accepted ?

First of all, shout out to my girl Selena for tipping me on these clips.  Now, on to crazy town......when I first heard of the reality show Momma's Boys I seriously hoped there would NOT be any Black chicas involved.  *Sigh*...but naturally, NBC decided to cast the most obnoxious and I do believe racist "momma" they could find and naturally some Black chicas in order to create a big 'ole pot of crazy town gumbo.  Ugh.

It would have been soooooo refreshing if the Black chica would have shown no reaction at all to the simpleton "momma." But alas, we had the neck swerving and "hold me back" dramz. *Sigh* I give chica props for the apology; that takes extreme character. Casting pearls before swine indeed.

Mmmm...K, that momma needs some serious therapy-time. Chile....LOL, life is too short for that kind of foolishness. I feel sorry for any woman who gets involved with that family. SMH Anyhoo....that second clip was hawt (minus the momma drama)....LOL, that's all I got.

Never Take the Bait

The Real Housewives of Atlanta was generally a mess from the episodes I saw and a lot has been said around the internet about Nene acting "ghetto."  However, in the following clip, the "bait" was dropped for her and she did not pick it up.

                

                Unfortunately, Lisa picked up the bait and ran all the way home with it.                 

Also, I found it interesting in this clip exactly WHO the instigator really is.  For the record, even though Nene had words with Kim, I still don't think she was the one acting "ghetto."  I think that title can be left to Kim and Lisa.                 

Be careful of those who drop the bait and those who would love nothing more than for you to pick it up (side eye to Lisa.)
