Thanks Lorraine !!!
Can we all just be honest for a minute...non-black men are NOT
aliens..lol; they are MEN.
Black women please let go of this "alien" fixation and at the very least, if you are in the area, go and LISTEN to the panelists.
It's really interesting to me how some of US focus on the differences we may have to face with non-black men, but nobody really thinks about how we ALREADY face differences within black romantic relationships and somehow folks manage. SMH
Case in point---a black girlfriend of mine is married to a black man. She is a city girl through and through; He on the other hand is a "deep south" boy. When they got married, they had to deal with their differences in culture: food / cooking styles, dialects, family traditions, etc.
It's not just "racial" differences couples have to negotiate; however, we NEVER talk about certain cultural / class differences within black relationships. A relationship is what YOU make it and ALL relationships will have challenges. It's really not that complicated or mysterious..it's just life.
